We go on, strong and healthy

Through the project we are running in partnership with Johnson & Johnson, we are working on disseminating new knowledge about the prevention of abuse and aggressive behaviour.

We just completed a new round of workshops – training of trainers – as part of the new project “Strong & Healthy” that we are running in partnership with Johnson & Johnson. This training will provide the trainers with new insights into the prevention of aggressive behaviour, which they will share with their colleagues and apply in their work with children.

Nineteen care professionals from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia attended the workshops that took place in the Panorama Hotel in the period between 25 and 29 November. Among them were the employees and associates of the SOS Children's Village Croatia. Our psychologists, social workers and social pedagogues and their colleagues, care professionals from the neighbouring countries, had the opportunity to refresh and advance their knowledge and skills in working with children and young people.

This training is just one in the series of trainings through which our employees and care professionals from partner organizations will have the opportunity to learn and acquire new skills regarding three important topics: united conflict management, protective behaviours and traumatic experiences. The goal of these trainings is to raise the quality and safety of childcare services, not just in the SOS Children's Villages in the region, but also in our partner organizations with which we cooperate extensively, both through direct work with the children and through disseminating knowledge to care professionals directly in their places of work.

The trainings under the “Strong & Healthy” project are the continuation of the successful cooperation between SOS Children's Village Croatia and Johnson & Johnson on the project “Health is for Everyone”, which ensures adequate health and hygiene conditions for children and youth in our care.
