We continue to provide speech therapy to children in Valpovo

Valpovo mayor Matko Šutalo and SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci director Zoran Relić signed a co-funding agreement in the City of Valpovo Administration Office, ensuring the provision of speech therapy in SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci.

This Agreement will ensure the provision of speech therapy for preschool and school children with speech and language difficulties in the City of Valpovo region, in terms of early detection of impediments and treatment, as well as preventing difficulties that may arise indirectly.

“SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci provides services of organized living in 16 families and the service of accommodation in two SOS Youth Facilities in Osijek”, Zoran Relić said.

As part of its work, SOS Children's Village implements numerous social services throughout Osijek-Baranja County, under a joint name of Family Strengthening Programme. Speech therapy is one of the most important services we provide. It’s worth noting that speech therapy is available to all children and their parents in the City of Valpovo region in accordance with their needs. “The speech therapy clinic is located in the SOS Village, but our speech therapist also works from a kindergarten in Valpovo once a week”, Relić pointed out.

Zoran Relić thanked the City of Valpovo and Mayor Šutalo for recognizing the importance and essential nature of this programme and he pointed out that 58 children from the Valpovo region used the speech therapy services during 2019. He also said how happy he was that this programme would continue into 2020 and he expressed his hope for continued collaboration between the City of Valpovo and SOS Children's Village on implementing numerous demographic measures in the forthcoming period.
