Roma Support – Family Support Mobile Team

We increase our efforts to prevent family separation and to support families at risk through a new project in the Čakovec region.

SOS Children's Village Croatia looks after 240 children and youth without adequate care. In the course of carrying out our mission to create a loving home for each child, we developed family strengthening programmes designed to prevent family separation and to support families at risk in various parts of Croatia, which we do through our mobile teams. In 2019, we provided support for 350 children and young people through our programmes and field work.

Our mobile teams of experts are eager to share knowledge and experiences and they are actively involved in the new project ROMA SUPPORT – Family Support Mobile Team, aimed at monitoring and providing support.

The project will run from 1 September 2019 to the end of August 2020. ROMA SUPPORT project is funded by the Ministry of Demographics, Family, Youth and Social Policy. The main goal of the project is to support the members of the Roma community through the mobile team recently established by the Red Cross Čakovec City Society and carry out group work in their homes and settlements. SOS Children's Village Croatia has partnered on this project with the Croatian Red, Cross – Red Cross Čakovec City Society and Čakovec Social Welfare Centre.

The goal of the project is to promote the social inclusion of the members of the Roma community that Čakovec Social Welfare Centre is responsible for and to establish a coordinated system to support socially vulnerable groups.
