INA donates HRK 50.000 to SOS Children's Village Lekenik

INA – Industrija nafte d.d. donated HRK 50.128,00 to the SOS Children's Village Lekenik. On behalf of children, youth and all co-workers of Association SOS Children's Village Croatia and SOS Children's Village Lekenik, we would like to thank INA on this valuable donation.

Darko Markotić, INA’s Executive Director of Retail, presented the donation on behalf of INA to Ms. Višnja Tuškan – Krupić, National Director of SOS Children's Village Croatia.

Also present at the ceremony were representatives of the Croatian Water Polo Federation: Perica Bukić, Vice President of the Croatian Water Polo Federation, Renato Živković, Secretary-General of Croatian Water Polo Federation, Ratko Rudić, Head Coach of the Croatian national water polo team, Mario Čović, Director of SOS Children's Village Lekenik and children from SOS Children's Village Lekenik.

Mr. Darko Markotić briefly addressed the attendees and pointed out that the value of donation did not lie solely in its financial worth, but also in the active role of water polo fans who attended the European Water Polo Championship, held in Zagreb at the end of August and the beginning of September. By buying tickets for championship games at INA’s gas stations, they made it possible for INA, the official partner of the European Championship, to donate two kunas from each ticket sale to SOS Children's Village Lekenik: “In doing this, we wanted to stress the importance of our company being an active participant in the local community”, said Markotić.

Višnja Tuškan – Krupić said: “On behalf of the children, youth and all co-workers of Association SOS Children's Village Croatia and Children's Village Lekenik, I would like to thank INA Industrija nafte d.d. on their valuable donation. I would also like to point out how important it was to our children to meet the water polo players that they idolize: it is a reminder that whether it is sport, education or gaining independence, the only way to succeed is to commit deeply to everything that you do!”

After handing over the donation, the attendees also signed the petition for the "Let's Cheer Fairly" campaign , which was initiated by the SOS Children's Village Lekenik. The goal of the campaign is to encourage fans to behave fairly at sporting events. Mario Čović, Director of SOS Children's Village Lekenik, explained how important it is to instill a sense of respect for sports and civilized cheering in children. Our guests also visited one of the houses in SOS Children's Village Lekenik.

As a socially responsible company, INA always highlights the importance of cooperating with and supporting the local community as a way of protecting, conserving and improving the environment in which we work and live. That is why INA also donated HRK 50.000,00 to SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci at the beginning of July 2010. On the same occasion, the managers of the company personally took part in reconstruction works in the Children's Village by painting the fences around the village.

SOS Children's Village Croatia has been looking after children without parents and parental care since 1992, providing them with love, security, permanent home and education they need to experience peaceful and happy childhood in the family environment. Every child craves love, attention and acceptance, and SOS Children's Village Croatia has been successful at providing all three for the past 18 years. Our Association is active in the field of children’s rights and fully committed to responding to the needs and problems of children. SOS Children's Village Croatia looks after 240 children and young people in SOS Children's Villages Lekenik and Ladimirevci, and in five SOS Youth Facilities.
