We become part of an adventure

Srđan Kovačević from Osijek, member of the TEAM ROCKERS, has chosen SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci as his charity of choice for the Mongol Rally. Read on to find out more about the rally and “our” team.

WHAT IS THE MONGOL RALLY?
A 10.000-mile ride through deserts, mountains and steppes, in a car fit only for your granny’s trip to a grocery store. Traveling across the 1/3 of Earth’s surface in inappropriate vehicles, hundreds of miles away from civilization, is adventure enough, but this rally is also a charity event. All competing teams are required to choose a charity. Part of the money raised by all teams goes to the official rally charity – this year it’s the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation – while the rest goes to the charities chosen by individual teams.

HOW DID WE BECOME PART OF THIS ADVENTURE?
On Sunday, July 24, Srđan and his team paid a brief visit to the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci to spend some time with our children and grown ups. We presented him with a boxful of gifts for children in Mongolia, a faraway country in Asia and the final destination of this rally. We are certain that the toys collected by the children from SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci for their peers in Mongolia will bring smiles to their faces and make a contribution to this charity event, aimed at improving the lives of children around the world.
The 10.0000 mile rally launches from Prague. Our team will be driving an ambulance bought with sponsorship money from the Zagreb Emergency Medical Centre, which they will donate in Mongolia. They are expected to reach Ulan Bator on September 1. After returning to Croatia, the team will come back to our SOS Children's Village to talk to us and show us photographs chronicling their great adventure.
