Workshop for the children in the SOS Children's Village Lekenik

On September 26, school children from the SOS CV attended a workshop on protection and rescue that took place in the SOS Children's Village Lekenik.

Around 50 children from the SOS Children's Village took part in the workshop. They were welcomed by the director of the SOS Children's Village Lekenik, Mario Čović, and the director of the National Protection and Rescue Directorate, Damir Trut.
In the first part of the workshop, the head of the Regional Protection and Rescue Office in Sisak, Željko Prpić, was joined by a firefighter, policewoman and nurse, and they held a joint presentation for the children during which they covered a number of topics, ranging from different types of hazards, emergency services and their equipment to proper conduct in disasters and accidents, and advice on calling the national emergency telephone number, 112.

After this introductory part of the workshop, children watched the fire truck and police car presentation and a demonstration of working with a rescue dog, carried out by a guide and dog from the Croatian Rescue Dog Association. Members of the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service Territorial Unit in Novska showed the equipment they use in their rescue operations.
The National Protection and Rescue Training Program for Children was designed by the National Protection and Rescue Directorate and approved and recommended by the Education and Teacher Training Agency and Ministry of Science, Education and Sports for implementation in kindergartens and elementary schools.
