Children from Ladimirevci attend the finals of the Lino the All-Rounder in Koprivnica

At the invitation of our generous donor Podravka Koprivnica, 8 boys from SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci watched the finals of Lino the All-Rounder in the Fran Galović High School gym in Koprivnica.

Lino the All-Rounder is a long-running athletic event organized by the sports newspaper Sportske novosti and Podravka. The event was designed to encourage the development of sports in schools, to instill athletic habits in children and to promote respectful behavior and cheering at the stadiums and other sporting events. Children from fifth- to eighth grades compete in 8 sports disciplines and also engage in a literary competition.

This year elementary school Ladimirevci took part in the qualifying round and our Marino Dedić won the right to participate in the finals in Koprivnica. He dreamed of winning the competition and traveling to the football match between Real and Barcelona with the support of the organizer. Marino will have to wait a little longer to accomplish this dream, but knowing him, he will eventually be successful. However, Marino did get to meet some of the best Croatian athletes, who appeared as judges in their disciplines. Among them was the initiator of the Lino the All-Rounder project, our celebrated football player Zvonimir Boban, who is also our donor – his number 10 jersey has a place of pride in the SOS Youth Facility Osijek 1. Also present were the water polo player Dubravko Šimenc, world and European taekwondo vice-champion Marina Sumić, handball players from Podravka-Vegeta team and wrestler Sandro Frankol, whose skills on the mat completely floored our boys.

The entertainment portion of the program featured the talented elementary school students from all parts of Croatia. They sang, danced and played instruments. A girl from the elementary school Ladimirevci Ana Perak was among the performers. The anthem of Lino the All-Rounder was performed by the popular singer from Koprivnica, Vilibald Kovač. After the event, Podravka treated us to sandwiches and ice-cream. We took a walk around town, played in the park for a while and returned home in high spirits.
