Chevrolet continues to support SOS Children's Villages

Chevrolet continues to support SOS Children's Villages in 2012 through several new projects and sponsorships. Chevrolet prepared a surprise for the children; a vacation in Opatija, one of top tourist destinations in Croatia. For three days, Chevrolet played host to children and youngsters from SOS Children's Villages in Central and Eastern Europe.

Children threw themselves into various water activities and games at the beach. With this gesture, Chevrolet wanted to do more than simply donate money. The goal was to become closer with children from the SOS Children's Village and play an active part in their daily lives.
Chevrolet also announced the launch of the new sponsorship program – a donation of EUR 110,000 to SOS Children's Villages in Central and Eastern Europe. Eleven SOS organizations from the region will receive EUR 10,000 each. Chevrolet’s network of dealers will also take part in providing support to SOS Children's Villages. All dealerships in Croatia will offer leaflets with information on how to help the children from SOS Children's Village Croatia and Chevrolet’s authorized partner PSC Osijek will donate additional HRK 10,000 to SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci.
The Mayor of Opatija Ivo Dujmić said: “I am very glad you chose Opatija to hold this event and I commend you for everything that you do for the children. There is no doubt you chose the right town. Ever since 2005, Opatija has been a proud bearer of the “friend to children” title. We are committed to the protection of children and their rights and needs, we respect their views and we work tirelessly on improving the quality of life among our youngest citizens.”
Opatija, “friend to children”, also has a child mayor. Ivan Tancabel is a first grader at the School of Hotel Trade and Tourism in Opatija. He has served as a councilman at the children’s city council for the past five years, and last year he was elected as the children’s mayor for the next two years. His goal is to focus the attention of grown ups on children’s rights and ensure that they are respected at all times.
During its centennial celebration last year, Chevrolet decided to give hundred birthday presents for charity. As a result, one hundred Chevrolet cars were donated to SOS Children's Villages in Europe. Through its dealers, Chevrolet also provides free maintenance of donated cars for the first 100,000 km.
