Polish Consul visits Children's Village Ladimirevci

In the early afternoon hours of Saturday, September 22, the consul of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Janusz Tatera, paid an unofficial visit to the Children's Village, in the company of his wife and the representative of the Polish minority in the City of Zagreb, Ms. Walentyna Lončarić.

The motive for the visit was our youngster Valentina, who has Polish ancestry. The representatives of the Polish embassy have been in contact with her for more than a year and whenever they visit Slavonia on business, they always make sure to see Valentina.
The director of the Children's Village showed the consul and his companions around the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci and thanked them for everything they have done for SOS families in the SOS Children's Village so far. The guests were then treated to a visit to the SOS family living in the Blackberry House, which was especially beautifully decorated that day to celebrate a birthday of one of its children. SOS mother Ružica baked delicious cakes and they were a lovely way to say thanks for all the gifts that our friends from the Polish embassy brought.
Valentina was especially happy. In an interview with consul Tatera, he told her more about her college options in Poland and about putting her in contact with family members who live in Poland. We believe that Valentina’s biggest wish will soon come true, and that with the help of the Polish embassy, she will be able to start “discovering her roots”.
