Hard work leads to success

On Monday, February 18, 2013, our young person Josipa Požgaj was awarded the master’s degree in civil engineering at the graduation ceremony held at the Zagreb University School of Civil Engineering in Zagreb.

Attending the ceremony were the director of SOS Youth Facility Velika Gorica Danica Gojić and the president of the Association SOS Children's Village Croatia, Prof. Mariza Katavić, PhD, herself a full professor at the same School.
“Josipa is an extraordinary young woman, who bravely decided to pursue a difficult and demanding course of studies. School of Civil Engineering has a long-standing tradition and it is well-respected in our country, region and beyond. I am certain that as Master of Civil Engineering, Josipa Požgaj will be able to achieve all her goals. She certainly has the required skills and persistence. My sincere congratulations on her wonderful accomplishment. She should be proud of herself. I want to thank her for her courage and persistence. She overcame all the obstacles and challenges that university studies and living on one’s own pose to our children. On behalf of all members of the SOS Children's Village Croatia Board of Directors, I also wish her much success, both in her personal life and in her career”, said Prof. Mariza Katavić, who could not hide her delight.

Josipa also shared her feelings with us. It was not easy, but hard work will always help you achieve your goals.

“Now I can freely say that being a student was a great experience, especially in this school, which was my first choice, as was the study course I chose – geotechnical engineering. I could not wait to graduate, and now I wish I could do it all over again, that’s how much I loved being a student here”, said the overjoyed Josipa Požgaj (25), who enrolled in the Zagreb University School of Civil Engineering in the academic year 2007/08 and who was awarded her master’s degree in civil engineering on February 18, 2013.
