I want to be a role model to my brothers and sisters

Kristina is a cheerful girl who lives in the SOS Children's Village Lekenik. Her day begins with a morning grooming routine, choosing her outfit for school and a healthy breakfast.

Kristina is an eleven-year-old girl who came to the SOS Children's Village Lekenik three years ago, together with her seven brothers and sisters. She likes having a set morning routine, so she gets up early, at seven o’clock, to have breakfast with her brothers and sisters. Her favorite breakfast meal is polenta, and she always brushes her teeth afterwards. She is very thorough in her teeth brushing; she uses circular motions that last for several minutes and every day she shows her siblings the right brushing technique.
At our workshop Dental Protection, aimed at SOS mothers, SOS aunts and children and prepared by the dentist Dubravka Matančević, Kristina proudly showed off her white teeth.
“I brush my teeth regularly, and my SOS mother takes me to regular check-ups with our dentist. I am never scared, and I want to make sure my brothers and sisters aren’t scared either!” says Kristina.

At the end of the workshop, Dr. Matančević pointed out: “If they continue to apply the knowledge and skills they gained today regularly, children will only need to come to regular check-ups in the future, making tooth extractions and dental restorations unnecessary!”
