The first of 87 donations pledged by Lidl finds its way to SOS Children's Village Lekenik

A donation to SOS Children's Village Lekenik, as chosen by a Lidl employee, marks the beginning of the big donation campaign “More for the Community!” Through this campaign, the supermarket chain Lidl Croatia plans to donate almost half a million kunas to Croatian NGOs and associations by the end of the year.

Key role in the donation campaign “More for the Community” is played by Lidl employees themselves, more than 1600 of them, because they are the ones who propose the donation recipients.
The first of the total of 87 donations to be handed over by the end of the year went to SOS Children's Village Lekenik, thanks to the Lidl employee Danijela Davidović, herself a former SOS child.
“I grew up in the SOS Children's Village myself, so I know how much it means when someone recognizes and rewards the work of the organization dedicated to helping those who need help the most. Kind-hearted people made a huge difference in my life as a child, so I feel duty-bound to continue their efforts to help others. This opportunity to be the one who will symbolically hand over the Lidl donation is one of the ways in which I can express gratitude for the way they cared for me”, said Ms. Davidović, who handed over the donation on behalf of Lidl together with the Lidl Croatia public relations director, Lana Jugo.
The donation was accepted by Mario Čović, director of SOS Children's Village Lekenik, who took the opportunity to say: “I am extremely happy that there are still individuals and companies that appreciate and support the work of SOS Children's Village in providing family-based care to children, even in these difficult times. I want to thank Lidl for launching this important campaign.”
