Children from SOS Children's Village Lekenik spend a wonderful week in Prague

Almost fifty children and SOS mothers from SOS Children's Village Lekenik enjoyed a seven-day stay in Prague – one of the oldest and largest cities in Central Europe. The idea for the trip came from NGO Lastavica, and Podravka and Unilane gave their support.

The trip was part of the project Traveling Children's Villages, implemented by the NGO Lastavica and designed to introduce children from SOS Children's Village Villages to new cities, people and interesting experiences. One of the goals of this charity NGO is preserving and actively promoting the cultures of the countries in this region. Every year, one of the SOS Children's Village from the region visits Prague. This year, more than forty children from the SOS Children's Village Lekenik, along with their SOS mothers, were the lucky visitors.
The children and their SOS mothers saw everything that a tourist might find interesting in Prague and the surrounding area. They learned a lot about the Czech culture and history. Walks through the center of Prague, a boat ride on the Vltava river, a climb to the Belvedere, visiting Karlovy Vary, touring castles and forts, cathedrals and parks, a visit to the zoo, swimming in the wonderful Aquapark, riding in a cable car, watching dinosaurs in the DinoPark – those were just some of the activities they enjoyed during their seven-day stay in the Czech capital.
“People were amazingly kind. They welcomed us as if we were their brothers and sisters. They took wonderful care of us and anticipated our every need”, said Leona about her visit to Prague.
Actors from the Little Fairy Tale Theater in SOS Children's Village Lekenik performed the play The Little Prince and the Big Pilot for their hosts in the very center of Prague, in the old restaurant Sup, traditionally a site of various cultural events. Children and their chaperons were also received by the Croatian ambassador in Prague, Mr. Frane Krnić.
