Little actors celebrate the World Theatre Day

We received a visit from the young actors, members of the English drama club from the 16th Gymnasium in Zagreb, together with their instructor Prof. Marie Antoinette Jurjevich and the school principal Prof. Nina Karković. They performed an excerpt from the play Translations by the Irish playwright Brian Friel.

In the crowded auditorium of the Social Center, the audience was greeted by the director of the SOS Children's Village Lekenik Mr. Mario Čović, who reminded everyone of the last year’s accomplishments of our very own Little Theatre of Fairy Tales – they participated in the International Children’s Festival in Šibenik, performed in Prague, Zagreb, Lekenik, Sesvete, promoted their work in schools and kindergartens, in institutions such as the Croatian School Museum and the various donor companies such as INA and Lidl, at events ranging from the Social Workers Day and Lekenik Municipality Day to the Millennium Fairy Tale Read-A-Thon and Let’s Welcome the Storks celebration. Through their committed work, the members of the Little Fairy Tale Theatre have joined the big worldwide family of actors.

The little actors from our Village sent their greetings and a special message to all actors, playwrights, directors and all other theatre workers, in which they highlighted the importance of stage play as a way of broadening the mind and building up self-esteem.

Later in the program, the English drama club of the 16th Gymnasium in Zagreb, led by Prof. Marie Antoinette Jurjevich, and accompanied by the school principal Prof. Nina Karković, performed an excerpt from the play Translations by the Irish playwright Brian Friel. They were followed by the SOS Children's Village Lekenik drama club, which performed the play The Little Prince and the Big Pilot, adapted and directed by the playwright Rusmir Agačević.
Contributing to this theatrical bounty was the new stage in the SOS Children's Village Social Center, painted by the young artist Sven Ćurak, who brought a piece of the universe into the magical plays performed by the Little Fairy Tale Theatre.
All in all, this was a special day in our Social Centre!
