New stage backdrop design in the Hermann Gmeiner Social Center

Young artist Sven Ćurak painted murals in the Social Center in Lekenik and used the 3D brush technique to paint the stage backdrop and several SOS houses in his own very recognizable style.

SOS Children's Village Lekenik Little Fairy Tale Theatre, our highly acclaimed drama club, which in recent years has been selected to appear at some of the most important children’s theatre festivals in Europe, now has a magnificently painted backdrop, much to the joy of its little actors.

A mural artist from Zagreb, Sven Ćurak, painted the entire backdrop as a phantasmagoric imaging of the universe.
The new backdrop lends a whole new dimension not only to the stage (which up until now functioned as a “black box”), but also to the entire Social Center, a place where children from the SOS Children's Village spend a lot of time attending various workshops or playrooms.
In addition to painting the Social Center, Sven also delighted SOS mothers and children by beautifully decorating several bedrooms and living rooms in SOS houses Daisy and Iris.

“There is no doubt that the mural artist Sven Ćurak’s creativity inspires the imagination of everyone who is or still feels as a child, but his generosity also shows the way for other artists who might want to do something for the benefit and joy of children”, said Rusmir Agačević, our drama workshop director.

Sven’s universe on the stage calls all actors and audience members into its embrace.
We thank him for his outstanding creative effort and a wonderful work of art.
