SOS Children's Village Lekenik co-organizes this year’s Days of ban Jelačić and Klempaj the Postman in Lekenik

As part of the entertainment program, the children from the Little Fairy Tale Theatre premiered two new plays by Rusmir Agačević: Little Red Riding Hood from Lekenik and a Wolf from Sisak and A Hunting Story. Children from the SOS Children's Village Lekenik took part in the Little Postman competition, and our Josip won the first prize.

The 7th Days of ban Jelačić and Klempaj the Postman in Lekenik ended on Monday, with the performance of a spectacular musical stage show The Lipizzan Dance, rich in historical references.

This cultural and tourist event always takes place around the Trinity Sunday and it is organized by the Lekenik Tourist Board to celebrate the Lekenik postman Josip Klempaj who personally delivered the emperor’s decree to colonel Jelačić, notifying him of being appointed the Croatian ban, right here in Lekenik, on that historical day in 1848. Soon after, Klempaj the Postman was named the first director general of the Croatian-Slavonian Post Office. The historical reenactment was performed by the members of the societies Lipizzaner Baroque Grandeur and the Kalnik Noblemen, with the support from our local forces, namely Ivica Hapčić who played ban J. Jelačić, and Dominik Dobranić, who portrayed Klempaj the Postman. The dancers in historical costumes danced the waltz alongside gorgeous, specially trained Lipizzan horses.

The Days began on Friday with notes on the history of the event and the premiere of the SOS Children's Village Lekenik Little Fairy Tale Theater new play, A Hunting Story, written by Rusmir Agačević. On Saturday, the elementary school students took part in the traditional Little Postman competition. The central celebration was opened by the Lekenik Majorettes and the premiere of the play Little Red Riding Hood from Lekenik and a Wolf from Sisak, performed by the SOS CV Lekenik Little Fairy Tale Theatre and the playwright himself, Rusmir Agačević.

The event was sponsored by: Sisak-Moslavina County Tourist Board, Lekenik Municipality, Croatian Post
Organizer: Lekenik Municipality Tourist Board – Co-organizers: SOS Children's Village Lekenik, MO Lekenik, KGU Zlatna ruža
