Pjaca, Ćorić and Eduardo train with the children from the SOS Children's Village Lekenik

Yesterday, FC Dinamo Zagreb welcomed young footballers from the SOS Children's Village Lekenik on their training pitch in Maksimir, as part of the global social project Football for Friendship. Players from the starting team of the ten-time Croatian

Six nimble boys and one girl, children from the SOS Children's Village Lekenik, which provides care for children without adequate parental care, learned new dribbling moves from their football heroes, tested the precision of their kicks and found out more about what it takes to become a top athlete.

“I am delighted we had the chance to meet the children from Lekenik today and welcome them here. I think this is a great project and an unforgettable experience, both for our junior players who will be traveling to Berlin to meet their peers from around the world, and for these kids who visited Dinamo today. Making others happy is always a special feeling, more so when it’s children. This will be a day to remember, for us and, hopefully, for them”, said Marko Pjaca, Dinamo’s talented attacking midfielder, who celebrated his 20th birthday on this very day.

Children from the SOS Children's Village Lekenik were joined on the training pitch by their peers from the Dinamo’s youth squad. The latter are participants in the Gazprom’s social project Football for Friendship, who will be representing Croatia at the International Football for Friendship Forum, which will take place in Berlin on June 5-6, 2015, in the presence of children from 24 countries. Young footballers exchanged friendship bracelets as symbols of tolerance, equality and healthy lifestyle and then they had a fun-filled, carefree joint training session.

“Spending time with professional football players, a special training session, learning new football tricks, meeting your idols and having a great deal of fun with your peers at the same time – all of that was a wonderful experience for the children we care for in the SOS Children's Village Lekenik. We are thankful to FC Dinamo for giving us this opportunity and helping us strengthen the spirit of sportsmanship and other values we nurture in our children”, said Mario Čović, the director of SOS Children's Village Lekenik.

After the International Day of Football and Friendship, celebrated globally on April 25, Dinamo continued its activities of promoting understanding, diversity and tolerance among young people and developing positive social value trough sporting activities by providing private training sessions for children without adequate parental care.
