SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci Fights the Rain with Anniversary Celebration

Despite the persistent rain, the Ladimirevci residents celebrated the 18th anniversary of SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci on Monday, May 25, once again proving by example that family is an inexhaustible source of love for every child.

SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci celebrated this special anniversary with an entertainment program and various merry-making workshops. Surrounded by the laughing, happy children, our friends, partners and esteemed guests had a wonderful time and the celebration lasted throughout the day, in spite of the bad weather.

The anniversary celebration, which took place in the elementary school Ladimirevci, began with a traditional circle dance performed by the folklore society Šokadija Ladimirevci. The director of SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci, Zoran Relić, addressed the attendees in a brief speech welcoming the children, SOS mothers and aunties, as well as their many esteemed guests.

“There are many reasons why we feel proud today. We are proud of our family-based family concept of long term care for children in need, which allows biological siblings to grow together in the same SOS family, in a safe and stimulating environment where diversity is respected and where we teach non-violence and other positive values essential to healthy development of society thorugh personal example. In addition, we constantly work on developing capacities that will help children grow into valuable, independent young people. We are proud of our togetherness, of our SOS mothers, SOS aunties, members of our child development team, our administrative and technical staff, all of whom are committed to their work, and who live the vision and mission of the SOS Children's Village every day, with love, attention, enthusiasm and responsibility, making sure that children here live in the same caring environment as their counterparts in biological families. We are proud of the fact that we are integrated into the local community – not only do we have friends who help us, we also help children and families around us in many different ways, using our experience and professional expertise”, said Zoran Relić, taking the opportunity to thank the friends and partners of

SOS Children's Village for their support and for helping us provide a caring home for our 16 SOS families.

Children had the central role in the anniversary celebration – they made sure everyone could laugh, dance and sing with them. Children from Rajevo Selo sang a nursery rhyme called “Where Have You Been, Little Girl”, children from Račinovci performed a circle dance, children from Strošinci performed a play called “Living Water”, and children from Đurići performed a play called “The Sieve”.
And finally, like a cherry on the cake, our dear hosts, the children from the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci, performed a play called “Ladybird’s House”, during which they introduced all the families in the Village. The director of SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci took the opportunity to thank all the SOS mothers and aunties. After shaking their hands and kissing them on the cheek, he gave each of them a bouquet of flowers.
