SOS Children's Village Lekenik celebrates with a fun-filled barbecue party

SOS Children's Village Lekenik and parcel delivery service DPD celebrated the end of the school year on Saturday, June 13.

Is there a better way to mark the end of school than a sunny day spent outdoors, coupled with a scrumptious lunch? Thanks to the parcel delivery service DPD and restaurant CHEFlja, SOS Children's Village Lekenik got to enjoy exactly such a day.
SOS Children's Village Croatia friends and donors arrived to Lekenik in the morning hours in their big DPD truck, bringing lovely gifts – crayons, felt tip pens, multicoloured napkins, glue, scissors and many creative ideas for the three workshops they held. Some participants painted wood panels in the shape of hearts, while others drew trucks or tried their hand at decoupage.

Braver souls took up various sports activities, and despite the hot sun, competed in football and volleyball tournaments. Children and young people from SOS Children's Village and their guests were particularly delighted with the sack race and tug-of-war, which the girls won three times.

After so many exhausting activities on a day that temperature far exceeded 30ºC, everyone needed refreshments. Culinary magicians from the restaurant CHEFlja made sure to keep us well fed and smiling. The staff of CHEFlja received help with preparation and serving from the young persons in our Village who attend the Little School of Life programme, where they learn cooking in a professional setting.
Faithful friends of the SOS Children's Village Croatia also made sure that children could welcome the end of the school year with tasty desserts.
