CRO SOS pirates rule Šolta

Memories of summer vacations are always among the most vivid and treasured memories we have.

This year, the concern DM (Drogerie Markt) went out of its way to make sure that children from SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci have something special to remember.

In collaboration with the Euroclub summer camp, our children had the opportunity to enjoy a stay in the small seaside town Rogač on the island of Šolta from August 22 to 29. They departed for Šolta on Saturday and spent the 9-hour trip to Split watching cartoons, reading books and filling in coloring books. Upon their arrival in the camp, they met the camp’s chief coordinator for Croatia Tihomir Kovač. The camp is set up to welcome children from children’s homes and organizations from six different countries, so our children had the chance to meet their peers from Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia and Serbia.

The program began in earnest on their second day in the camp – the hosts organized a pirate workshop and the participants used different techniques, from spray painting and felt tip pens to fabric colors, to make pirate flags and bandannas. Children from the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci decided to call themselves CRO SOS PIRATES. In the days that followed, they also took part in many other interesting activities, such as the mini Olympics, in which they won fifth place, various games on the beach and trips to Trogir and Split. Our non-swimmers learned to swim in a course organized especially for them and everyone still had enough time to enjoy long walks and eat plenty of ice cream.

Our caring, welcoming hosts were kind enough to throw a birthday party for all children who had their birthdays during their stay in Rogač, among them our Nikolina. Happy 11th birthday, Nikolina!
We miss our CRO SOS PIRATES very much and we are eager for them to return to Ladimirevci, but we are also happy they had the opportunity to enjoy this experience and meet many new friends from different countries.

To our friends from DM, we send countless children’s smiles in gratitude for this wonderful summer vacation and for the experience we will treasure forever.
