Our young people know how to enjoy the summer holidays

Our young people from Osijek and Ladimirevci were among the 90 children who spent an unforgettable summer vacation sponsored by Kaufland in Seget Donji near Trogir. This is their story.

They say that rain is always followed by sun and this was certainly true for the big group of youngsters that departed for their vacation in the early hours of August 20, in the pouring rain. When we reached Seget Donji, we were greeted by sun and wonderful weather, Korny the turtle and our smiling hostesses Ivanka and Barica, all thanks to our friends from Kaufland.

On the strength of this donation, among those who took this vacation were seven young people from SOS Youth Facilities in Osijek, ten young people from SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci who just completed elementary school and who would be moving to the Youth Facilities in the autumn, six educators and our cook.

The vacation was a great opportunity for all these young people to meet and get to know each other better, while also learning about life in the Youth Facility and making the transition from the SOS Village and adjustment to the Youth Facility easier.

We are thankful to many people who made our 10-day stay in Seget Donji as comfortable and pleasant as if we were at home. The weather was lovely throughout so we genuinely enjoyed the sea, swimming and other perks of being at the seaside. Eleven of our children got the chance to visit the Wibit water park, where we got a discount on the tickets.

Thanks to the kind staff of the Split Airport, six young people were able to tour the airport and the landing strips and watch planes and helicopters take off, while learning more about how an airport functions. We also went sightseeing in the nearby city of Trogir.
We will remember our vacation fondly and we all hope to return to Seget Donji as soon as possible.
