Delighted, smiling first-graders take a stroll through Ladimirevci

Monday, September 7, was a big day for kids in the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci – it was their first school day ever. They could barely contain their delight and excitement.

It would be difficult to say who was more excited on the first day of school in Ladimirevci – SOS children or their SOS mothers. The kids proudly paraded their new, colorful schoolbags through the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci.

We hope the schoolbags won’t be too heavy for them and that their school teachers will be able to recognize all the wisdom their little heads already possess.

All the first graders successfully completed the so-called Little School last year, and now it’s time to try their hand at the “real” school. “School should feel like your second home” – this is the motto almost all elementary school principals in Croatia highlighted as they greeted their new pupils. Our children are taking the first steps on this important life journey with courage and joy.
