Everybody run to Jarun this Saturday, because “diving is a must”

This will be the third year in a row that diving club “Roniti se mora” (Diving is a Must) will be demonstrating to our young people all the ways in which diving is a wonderful sport. Our youngsters are eager to take part in the Jarun event.

Diving club “Roniti se mora” and National Geographic Croatia invite everyone to join the environmental and fundraising event “Think Green – Jarun 2015”, scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 3, at the Jarun Lake, from 10 AM to 5 PM. One of the goals of the event is to raise funds for SOS Children's Village Croatia.
Today, when the entire world is faced with the global crisis of extinction threatening not only our environment but also the human population, it is essential to constantly highlight the importance of our environment. Conserving nature and natural resources is the basis for future development of life on Earth, including our food, drink, drugs, fuel and even construction materials. Ecological systems of our planet supply us with many irreplaceable resources and services, such as clean air and water, soil, pollination, climate regulation.

Thanks to the efforts of diving and ecology enthusiasts gathered in the diving club “Roniti se mora” and magazine NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CROATIA, the Jarun Lake will be the setting of the important initiative to mark this day with an environmental and fundraising event consisting of:
• cleaning the Jarun Lake and the surrounding grounds;
• lecture for children and adults on invasive foreign species in eco-systems of landlocked waters
• raising funds for SOS Children's Village Croatia

As part of this eco-event, DC “Roniti se mora” will organize a youth-oriented training on diving and diving equipment, underwater flora and fauna and underwater photography. More than 100 divers from Croatia and abroad have confirmed their attendance.

The cleaning of the lake will also be supported by the City of Zagreb, numerous companies and public figures who support the idea of preserving the natural resources. Organizers have announced a whole day of entertainment for children and adults in attendance and they invite all citizens to join in.
