A bit of goulash, a bit of cake, a bit of Luka Bulić’s excellence – a recipe for a great birthday!

A rainy, work-free Thursday for children, youngsters, SOS mothers and all other SOS Children's Village Lekenik co-workers and their dear guests proved to be a festive day indeed.

Despite the ceaseless rain, everyone who gathered had a great time celebrating the 22nd anniversary of SOS Children's Village Lekenik.

The honor to open the celebration and greet numerous guests who filled the Village Social Center to capacity fell to Mario Čović, the director of SOS Children's Village Lekenik. Among the well-wishers who came to mark this anniversary were the national director of SOS Children's Village Croatia Višnja Tuškan Krupić, member of the SOS Children's Village Board of Directors Wendy Zečić, Lekenik Mayor Ivica Perović, Deputy Mayor Marica Zlovolić, director of elementary school Lekenik Igor Rožić and envoy of the Sisak-Moslavina County prefect Darjan Vlahov.

As in previous years, members of the Little Fairy Tale Theatre wowed everyone with their acting skills. They were supported by other co-workers of the SOS Children's Village Lekenik, dressed in folk costumes of the region. The exhibition of photographs by children garnered the most attention. It showed the works by the members of our photo club.

After the official program, the merry company enjoyed the delicious goulash we traditionally serve every year. The ingredients were supplied by Lidl, our major partner, and for dessert, we received a large cake from Dr. Oetker, a longtime friend and donor of the SOS Children's Village Croatia. National director of SOS Children's Village Croatia and director of SOS Children's Village Lekenik had the honor of cutting the cake. Of course, our children were happy to help them with this task. Thanks to Lidl and Dr.Oetker, children also had the chance to enjoy delicious juice drinks and an assortment of scrumptious pastries.

Among numerous friends, partners and donors of the Village who attended the celebration, one proved to be particularly popular with children – Luka Bulić. He brought his family, but he didn’t forget his guitar and he simply brought the house down with his performance. Children were beyond themselves with delight and Luka signed autographs for a long time afterwards. And so our anniversary ended on a high note. We will remember the festivities for a long time.
