SOS Ambassadors, the Henschel Quartet, are coming to Zagreb

All fans of classical music can look forward to a special treat on Thursday, February 18. One of the best classical ensembles in the world, the great string quartet Henschel Quartet, is coming to Zagreb.

The award-winning musicians, widely considered to be among the top string quartets in the world, will play a concert in the recently opened Blagoje Bersa Concert Hall on February 18, 2016.

In cooperation with their host, the Zagreb University Academy of Music, and under the sponsorship of Goethe-Institut Kroatien, the German string quartet that won the Orlando Prize in 2015 will treat Zagreb audiences to pieces by Haydn, Tarbuk and Van Beethoven. Croatian Radiotelevision will be broadcasting the concert live on its Channel 3. The concert starts at 9 PM.

The concert will be attended by some special guests: employees, children and young people from the SOS Children's Village Lekenik. The friendship between the Henschel Quartet and Association SOS Children's Village Croatia has lasted for many years, every since the quartet started donating part of their earnings to the Nueva Project in SOS Children's Village Colombia, back in the late 1990s. In 2006, the members of this musical family were appointed SOS Children's Villages official ambassadors. SOS is active in 134 world countries, including Croatia. Since then, the Henschel Quartet has intensified its support of SOS through charity concerts and workshops. On this occasion, the children and young people from the SOS Children's Village Lekenik who attend violin lessons held by professor Budak will have the opportunity to enjoy the concert in the new, beautiful Blagoje Bersa Concert Hall at the Academy of Music.
