Children also know that everyone has rights

All children in the world should know their rights, and we are here to protect and educate them. It is so important for every human being to know that they have rights that need to be protected, especially for crime victims.

To mark the European Day for Victims of Crime, a series of preventive activities was carried out, primarily for the purpose of raising public awareness of the rights of victims of crime. In keeping with the strategic guidelines for preventive action, General Police Directorate has organized a preventive-educational programme on the premises of the Police Information Centre in Osijek, in cooperation with the Osijek-Baranja Police Administration, the Osijek-Baranja County Team for Violence Prevention and other competent bodies and civil society organizations. The programme complies with the Clauses VII and VIII of the National Strategy for the Development of Support System for Victims and Witnesses in the Republic of Croatia 2016 – 2020.

The programme aimed at the general public included the public debate entitled “Rights of Crime Victims”, with the participation of professionals from the judicial system, the State Attorney’s Office, police, social welfare and NGOs that provide support for victims of crime. At the same time, an interactive art-educational workshop for the younger population took place, addressing the importance of protecting victims of crime.

Fourteen children from SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci took part in the workshop and the preventive programme carried out by the Red Cross staff.
