Well done! Our little actors triumph in Šibenik

Children from the SOS Children's Village Lekenik traditionally participate in the International Children’s Festival in Šibenik. In their fifth consecutive appearance at the festival, which took place on June 30, they performed their new play Little Skyscrapers.

Thanks to the excellent script by the great writer and director of the SOS Children's Village Lekenik Drama Club, Mr. Rusmir Agačević, our little actors gave a masterful performance.

Although the play was originally scheduled to take place in the Croatian National Theatre in Šibenik, our little performers decided to improvise and use the outdoor space as their stage. While they waited for their cue in the backstage, alleviating their stage fright by goofing around, their director Rusmir surprised them with a sudden change of plan. He suggested that they leave the CNT and perform the play on the stairs in front of the main entrance.

After the initial surprise, children took up the challenge and embraced the new stage with enthusiasm. Their spirited performance immediately attracted numerous spectators, who gladly accepted their invitation to take a trip through the world of mirrors, fairies and elves, witches, trolls and international police. In telling this original story, little actors from SOS Children's Village Lekenik demonstrated how much kindness, honesty and fairness there is inside every child and proved that good always triumphs over evil, that truth is stronger than lies and that light always finds its way through the darkness.

Another notable thing about this play was its cast. For the first time ever, SOS mother Iskra appeared as one of the actors, convincingly portraying a witch, while SOS Children's Village Lekenik psychologist Lovorka played the role of a gentle fairy.

The delight on the faces of our children clearly shows what an honour and joy it was for them to perform at the International Children’s Festival in Šibenik. Their own persistence, hard work and commitment were unparalleled. The organizers and the audience of the International Children’s Festival first recognized this fact years ago. Their appreciation and applause always give our little actors an immense sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.
