Challenges of parenthood and how to deal with them

On the eve of the big celebration to mark the 20th anniversary of SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci, a conference called “Challenges of parenthood in various families” was held at the Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek.

Speaking about family and parenthood were: Prof. Ninoslava Pećnik, Ph.D., foster parent Marko Barjaktarević, psychologist Višnja Matić and Dr. Jugoslav Gojković.

“What distinguishes Association SOS Children's Village Croatia is the family-based care it provides. For the past 25 years, the Association has successfully implemented its mission of creating families for children without adequate parental care. SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci has been following the same model for the past 20 years.

To celebrate these 20 years, we organized today’s conference about the challenges that every family and parent face. Family and parenthood are two main issues that our Association is concerned with, and we undertake all our activities with the firm conviction that every child deserves to grow in a family”, said Zoran Relić, director of SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci.

After a short film that offered an overview of the last twenty years in SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci in a warm, sincere and educational way, psychologist Višnja Matić, child development team leader in SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci, spoke about child care in SOS families and challenges that all members of the child development team and all SOS mothers face every day.

Among many attendees of the conference, which took place under the patronage of the Osijek-Baranja County, we were happy to welcome the County Prefect himself, Mr. Vladimir Šišljagić, Ph.D.
