Ladimirevci holds a birthday party to remember

A special event was held in the gym of the Primary School Ladimirevci to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci.

The general excitement and feeling of anticipation before the start of the event was so great that you could cut the tension with a knife. So many smiling children were hovering backstage, waiting their turn to perform!

After welcoming everyone to the celebration, the director of the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci Zoran Relić passed the floor to the President of the Association SOS Children's Village Croatia Mariza Katavić, Osijek-Baranja County Prefect Vladimir Šišljagić and Valpovo Mayor Leon Žulj.

The big anniversary celebration opened, as every year, with the friends of SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci, the folk society Šokadija from Ladimirevci, performing a folk dance to the tune of the folk song “Ej širite se rukavi”. The audience was then vowed by the girls from the vocal ensemble Brevis, whose impressive singing performance left everyone speechless.

After the musical portion of the program, it was time for the story of Lada and Miro, a girl and a boy who live in Ladimirevci. Although some initially thought this had to be some kind of a joke or a fairy tale, the audience soon got to know Lada and Miro and hear their beautiful, touching story.

Our guests from Požega, the dance troupe Floa, got everyone dancing with their dance number “The Homeless” and kids from Ladimirevci showcased their acting talents in the play The Ugly Duckling. The youngest participants, our preschool children, prepared a recital, while rapper Tino from SOS Raspberry House earned a standing ovation from the audience for his performance.

Our young people from the SOS Youth Facilities in Osijek appeared together as a rock band named The Odd Couple, serving as warm-up act for the new Croatian singing sensation Mia Dimšić, who performed her hit “Life Isn’t Gray”.

The program was closed with a genuine surprise. The popular rock band Opća opasnost played a short concert for everyone. Their appearance was a birthday gift from INA, the loyal partner of SOS Children's Village Croatia.

But the festivities didn’t end there. After the formal portion of the program, the celebration moved to the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci. After a delicious lunch and birthday cake, everyone was free to join a number of creative workshops and outdoor games.

After several hours of creative and athletic activities, the merry caravan headed for Osijek, straight to the FC Elektra football stadium, where Humane Stars of Croatia played a charity football game against the Humane Stars of Osijek.

Our kids cheered them on loudly and afterwards had the opportunity to meet some of their football and show business idols.

Tired, but happy and fulfilled, they headed home, leaving behind another day that they will remember for a long time.

“Today is a great day for SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci. In our twenty years of work, we provided a loving home for 325 children without adequate parental care. We look forward to the coming years in which we plan to continue following the mission and vision of our Association. We are very proud of our persistence and our accomplishments in terms of creating families for children without parents or adequate parental care. In these twenty years of successful work, we were greatly helped by the steadfast collaboration between the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci child development team and SOS mothers, as well as by the invaluable support of our donors and partners. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart”, said the director of SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci Zoran Relić.
