Students from the Department of Pedagogy at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb visit SOS Children's Village Lekenik

SOS Children's Village Lekenik recently received a visit from the students of pedagogy at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. First year students visit the SOS Children's Village Lekenik every year as part of the Family Pedagogy course.

The students were welcomed to the Village by Mario Čović, director of SOS Children's Village Lekenik and Anamarija Adamek, director of the SOS Social Center Lekenik. They presented the work of the SOS Children's Village Lekenik to the students and took them on a tour of the SOS families to familiarize them with the work of the SOS Children's Village. During the visit, the following topics were covered: family-based care in the SOS Children's Village Lekenik with emphasis on SOS families, basic information about the global SOS organization, transformation of organization’s activities and introduction of new services, job of SOS mother and life in the SOS family, collaboration with the local community, comprehensive childcare (expert support, extracurricular activities and collaborations).

Study visits to SOS Children's Village Lekenik are organized in cooperation with Dubravka Maleš, Ph.D. and Assistant Professor Barbara Kušević, Ph.D. This practice has proven to be mutually beneficial. There are several pedagogy students currently volunteering in SOS Children's Village Lekenik, Youth Facilities and the Mobile Team, using their expertise to contribute to the upbringing of our children. We are sincerely thankful to all student volunteers in the SOS Children's Village Lekenik.
