Donation of new school bags brings joy to school children in SOS Children's Village Lekenik

The Croatian Forces International Volunteers Association (CFIVA) recently surprised our school children by donating a shipment of school bags.

The donation of school bags for all school children in SOS Children's Village Lekenik has been handed over in the Village itself on Thursday, August 3, 2017. Handing over the donation was Daniel Kington, the general secretary of CFIVA. On behalf of the school children in SOS Children's Village Lekenik, the donation was accepted by Ljiljana Varga, Head of the Corporate Partnerships Department and Danijela Kovačević, Corporate Partnerships Coordinator at SOS Children's Village Croatia.

This valuable and incredibly useful donation is a welcome relief for family budgets in SOS houses with school children and kids are thrilled with new school bags they’ll be proudly carrying to school this autumn. The first to take a closer look at their new bags were kids from the SOS Poinsettia House.

SOS Children's Village Croatia representatives acted like hosts and took Mr. Kington on a tour of SOS Children's Village Lekenik while telling him about the work and the history of their Association. As part of his tour of the Village, Mr. Kington visited the SOS Poinsettia House, where he spent time with the resident SOS family and expressed best wishes on behalf of the entire Croatian Forces International Volunteers Association.

About Association SOS Children's Village Croatia

SOS Children's Village Croatia has been providing a loving home for every child for the past 25 years. This major anniversary is being celebrated this year. SOS Children's Village Croatia is a non-governmental non-profit organization funded through donations. We provide care for children without parents or parental care in our two SOS Children's Villages in Croatia – SOS Children's Village Lekenik and SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci.
To mark the 25 years of SOS Children's Village Croatia, we launched the BE PROUD OF YOURSELF campaign, centred on the young people who grew up in the care of SOS Children's Village Croatia, becoming independent, accomplished and proud adults that they are today. Through the testimonies of young people who grew up in SOS Children's Village Croatia, we are sending a message about the family-based care that we have been successfully providing for children without parents or adequate parental care for the past 25 years.

About the Croatian Forces International Volunteers Association

CFIVA is an officially recognized association of foreign veterans of the Homeland War of Independence and Kosovo War of Independence. Members of the organization are foreign nationals who served in OSRH, HVO, the Bosnian Army and UCK without having any previous ties (familial or marital) to the region.
The goal of the association is to maintain the friendships and bonds, to ensure welfare benefits and maintain veterans’ good mental health, especially in case of those veterans who don’t have access to adequate support in their home countries. We work actively on breaking the cycle of veterans’ isolation and integrating them into the society.
We do our best to honor everyone who lost their life in these wars, military and civil casualties both – by respecting the values of the Homeland War and especially the memory of Vukovar, and by promoting the international reputation of the Republic of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. Members of CFIVA actively raise funds for charity – in addition to their successful cooperation with the SOS Children's Village in Mojmilo, Sarajevo, they have now entered a partnership with the SOS Children's Village Lekenik.
