Who’s afraid of the dentist?

You have to brush your teeth before bedtime in the evening and after waking up in the morning – every child knows this. However, some questions still remain: proper brushing technique, which brush to use, how often should you go to the dentist. We received answers to all of these questions from dentists who visited the SOS Children's Village Lekenik.

“Dentist aunties” arrived to the SOS Children's Village Lekenik in a highly original vehicle – their Toothmobile. Their visit to the children in Lekenik was organized by the Croatian Chamber of Dental Medicine in partnership with Orbit, as part of their project Orbit Gives Smiles.

After the educational presentation about the importance of dental hygiene, every one of our children had the opportunity to sit in the dentist’s chair and have his or her teeth checked.

The project ambassador Doris Pinčić Rogoznica helped them shake off their fear of the dentist’s chair and the dentists themselves by singing the Toothmobile theme song with them.

The trepidation they felt when first meeting with the Toothmobile dentists soon vanished and all children listened attentively to advice on proper brushing technique and the importance of regular brushing. After she completed all the preventive check-ups, dr. Doris gave everyone Orbit gift bags and commendations for bravery, as an encouragement to keep taking good care of their teeth.

“The very title of this project, Orbit Gives Smiles, clearly reveals its intention. We are delighted we had the chance to visit these wonderful children in the SOS Children's Village Lekenik and brighten their day. Their sincere smiles and interest they showed in learning proper dental hygiene are proof that we are making a difference. Hopefully they will continue to apply the lessons learned from Toothmobile dentists and think back to this visit by Toothmobile as fondly as we will”, said Marina Čulić Fischer, spokesperson for Orbit.
