Lekenik dances to the merry beat of jingle bells

The holiday cheer in the SOS Children's Village Lekenik always begins the same way – with a Christmas celebration. Our kids once again prepared an entertainment program for their guests and they wowed everyone with their performances.

A number of friends, donors and partners of the Association SOS Children's Village Croatia gathered in the fairy-tale setting of SOS Hermann Gmeiner Social Center. The Association has been providing care for the children without adequate care for 25 years.

Appropriately for such a major anniversary, the Christmas celebration in Lekenik featured a whole host of talented children. After the welcoming addresses of hosts, Association President Mariza Katavić and our dear friend Ivica Perović, the Lekenik mayor, guests were enchanted with a Christmas carol sang by the youngest residents of the Children's Village.

Members of the SOS Children's Village Lekenik drama club showcased their dramatic chops by performing an excerpt from their play Story of Little Lapitch’s Life Told in Verse.

Our wonderful violin players, led by Professor Budak, received a standing ovation, and so did the nine-year-old Ana Kanižaj, who traveled to Lekenik all the way from Pula to perform as our special guest. She was even called to the stage for an encore.

This little girl delighted everyone in the audience with her talent. We are deeply thankful to her for giving us a perfect Christmas gift in the form of her performance.

After the official program, we continued the celebration in Lekenik by enjoying the tasty treats provided by our partners Mlinar and Dr.Oetker. Thank you, everyone! We wish you a merry Christmas and a successful New Year!
