A poetic view of love for all women in Lekenik

The International Women’s Day in the SOS Children's Villages Lekenik was celebrated with beautiful love songs that moved everyone to tears.

To celebrate the Women’s Day, SOS Children's Villages Lekenik welcomed the women’s choir Bulbuli from Zagreb, with their director Ismet Kurtović, a renowned conductor, arranger and producer and the former leader of the now defunct band Drugi način.

Together they held a concert for all the women in the Village – SOS mothers, SOS aunties, colleagues and associates of the Children's Village – as a thank-you for their selfless work.

The programme consisted of beautiful love-themed music and poetry. Our dear guests shared with us a world of traditional Bosniak folk music sevdalinka and other traditional melancholy songs filled with yearning and love. Afterwards Ismet Kurtović performed several of his own songs and our colleague Rusmir Agačević read his love poems.

Bulbuli sang like nightingales, just as their name in Arabic says, and their emotional performance wowed everyone in the audience. We thank our wonderful guests for making this day special for our dear SOS mothers, SOS aunties, other co-workers and all women.
