A new beginning for our eighth-graders

Late August in the SOS Children's Village Lekenik always means it’s time for our traditional farewell ceremony for the former eighth-graders moving to the SOS Youth Facilities. Five brave, determined and somewhat confused young people just started a new chapter in their life. We wish them all the luck in the world.

An odd tear, lots of laughter and a plethora of emotions – that is how we said goodbye to our eighth-graders at the traditional farewell ceremony in the SOS Children's Village Lekenik.

All of their childhood friends, SOS mothers and other SOS Children's Village co-workers gathered in the Social Centre to wish them courage as they take another step towards adulthood.

Five brand new high schoolers all enrolled in the schools of their choice. Today they are moving to the SOS Youth Facilities in Zagreb and Velika Gorica. They presented their SOS mothers with symbolic flower bouquets, while they in turn promised to always be there for their kids.

At the end of the ceremony, everyone was treated to freshly roasted corn, much to the delight of all the children in the room.
