Valpovo and SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci together for the better future of children

Zoran Relić, the director of SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci and Matko Šutalo, the Mayor of Valpovo, signed an agreement on co-funding the work of the speech therapist in the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci.

The signed agreement stipulates that the work of the speech therapist in the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci will be co-funded in the period from 1 April 2019 until the end of the year, with the intent to continue this collaboration in the subsequent period as well.

As he signed the agreement, the Valpovo Mayor expressed his gratitude for the opportunity given to the City of Valpovo to contribute in this humble way to the continuation of the partnership between the SOS Village and the city for the benefit of the children and all the residents in the Valpovo region who need the help of the speech therapist.

Zoran Relić spoke about the beginnings of SOS Children's Village in Ladimirevci and about the family care and family strengthening projects run by the SOS Children's Village. He briefly outlined how the speech therapy project began. For the first two years, the project was sponsored by the Rotary Club Zagreb Dora and now the torch has been passed to the City of Valpovo, who will be co-funding the project in the next period.

During the project, a speech therapy cabinet has been equipped and furnished in the Family Strengthening House in the SOS Village. From the very beginning, the cabinet was open to young residents of the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci, but also to others who needed the help of the speech therapist. The speech therapist works with parents and educators as well, helping them gain new insights that they can use in their caregiving efforts.

‘The City of Valpovo and Mayor Šutalo, to whom we are very grateful, have expressed interest in continuing this partnership on this and other projects we have in the works. We are eagerly awaiting to see the results of our applications for grants’, Zoran Relić pointed out.
