Lekenik puts on a Christmas attire

The traditional Christmas show in the SOS Children's Village Lekenik once again delighted all the friends, partners and collaborators of SOS who gathered there. A bit of violin music, a bit of poetry, drama and singing was exactly what was needed to start the evening off on a perfect celebratory note.

Our youngest children opened the official part of the programme with their rendition of the perennially popular children’s song “When Little Hands Work Together”. Their immensely charming performance was a wonderful reminder of the togetherness that links all the children in SOS Children's Villages and elsewhere.

Association Board of Directors treasurer, Ms. Lea Sokolić, greeted everyone on behalf of the Association SOS Children's Village Croatia, while Ms. Ivanka Roksandić, the president of the Sisak County Assembly, wished everyone happy holidays and success in their future work.

Our violin virtuosos opened the musical part of the programme. Accompanied by their mentor Prof. Budak, they delighted the audience once again. Young musician Jana Pelikan also wowed us with her singing talent.

This year we had special guests from the Ksaver Retirement Home – the choir of retirement home residents called “Never Give Up”. Their performance of “Silent Night” was a lovely addition to our Christmas celebration.

We saved the best for last: to close the show and kickstart the after-party, the singer of the famous Croatian band Prljavo kazalište, Mladen Bodalec, played several songs for us. In addition to a solo performance of big hits “What’s Love Got to Do with It” and “Marina”, Mladen also sang the evergreen “Street Hero” with the backing of the SOS Children's Village Lekenik rock band. Afterwards the party continued with song, dance and delicious snacks
