A hike in the Hungarian mountains

Our friends from the Zanatlija Hiking Society once again brought joy to our kids, this time by taking them on a hiking trip in Hungary.

Readers may already know that children from the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci and young people from the SOS Youth Facilities in Osijek are seasoned hikers. Thanks to the Zanatlija Hiking Society in Osijek, they have already hiked through many ranges in Croatia and last weekend they had the chance to hike in a neighbouring country.

This time they scaled Harsány Hill (442 m), known as the site of the Second Battle of Mohacs. According to the legends, Harsány Hill’s summit was also a witches’ meeting place. The seashells our children found there prove that the hill used to be under the Pannonian Sea.

The trail itself was quite easy, so everyone reached the top without difficulties, enjoying the sun and the awe-inspiring view of the vast Pannonian Plain. After a lunch in a rustic basement restaurant in Villány, everyone went to the swimming pools in Siklós.

We had an exciting, eventful day that we will always remember.
