A weekend of learning and fun

Is there anything better than sharing what you know with others? Children from the SOS Children's Village Lekenik got the opportunity to do just that when they travelled to Austria last weekend.

Thanks to cooperation with IRIM – Croatian Makers, which has been going on for two years, kids from the SOS Children's Village Lekenik have become real technology experts. They learned a lot about programming and robotics by attending the regular micro:bit workshops. The most advanced workshop participants were given the opportunity to share their knowledge with their peers from the SOS Children's Village Hinterbruehl in Austria.

Four boys and one girl took up this task enthusiastically. The trip combined learning and fun in the best way. After teaching their new friends the basics of robotics and programming, they presented them with micro:bits to practice on and went sightseeing in Vienna.

“We had a lot of fun, we made new friends and we learned many new things as well”, they all told us.

This merry little group is currently the leading team in the regional Makers League. Although very young, these kids realize that being able to teach others what they know is a huge accomplishment. Thanks to the joint effort by Rotary E-Club Croatia, Rotary Club Zagreb Centar and IRIM-Croatian Makers, they succeeded in their mission!
