A change in Lekenik: spring is coming!

We welcomed the storks back to Lekenik, celebrating them as a symbol of change while also honouring the first day of spring.

With the help of our friends from the Lekenik Municipality, SOS Children's Village Lekenik held a traditional environmental and cultural event “Let’s Welcome the Storks” to celebrate the return of storks to Turopolje.

Little writers and artists from SOS Children's Village Lekenik joined forces with children from the Mladost Primary School and Lekenik Kindergarten to celebrate the arrival of spring. To mark the occasion, they threw a unique and traditional welcome party for the storks, celebrating them as a symbol of change while also honouring the arrival of springtime, a season of renewal and growth.

And just as our SOS Children's Village Lekenik prepared for spring by donning new spring garments full of greenery, fresh scents and flowers, our children prepared for the event by creating art focused on the themes of environmental protection and the arrival of spring. We did not lack for good cheer, songs and laughter.

Director of SOS Children's Village Lekenik Mario Čović and Lekenik mayor Ivica Perović greeted all the participants and the returning storks on behalf of the organizers.
