Hiking, learning and having fun at 569 meters above the sea level

Not even the bad weather can spoil the mood when children and employees from the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci set out on a hike. Just as in their previous trips, they conquered a new peak with song and laughter.

Our hikers from Ladimirevci have already climbed many mountains in Croatia, and this time they set their sights on the second highest peak on an island.

You probably guessed already, we are talking about Obzova on the island of Krk, standing at 569 m above sea level.
In addition to benefitting the physical fitness of our children, this trip was also educational. Our kids already learned about the Baška tablet in school – this is one of the most significant monuments in Croatian history – so they were very interested to visit the Church of St. Lucy in Jurandvor, near Baška. This is where the Baška tablet was created and our little history buffs had numerous questions to ask.

They still had enough time to visit the Vrelo cave in Fužine. Vrelo is the only cave in Europe accessible to everyone and walking through it is really like walking through a fairy tale. Thanks to our friends from the Zanatlija Hiking Society, children from the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci had a lovely experience that was both educational and immensely fun. Kids went back to their schoolwork and daily obligations in a great mood. They are looking forward to new hiking exploits and climbing new peaks!
