28th Assembly of Association SOS Children's Village Croatia takes place

Feeling satisfied with our work and with our children’s accomplishments in the past year, we held the annual Association Assembly as we continue to create a loving home for every child with unwavering commitment.

The 28th Assembly of Association SOS Children's Village Croatia took place on 6 June 2019. During the proceedings, the assembled members adopted the progress reports submitted by the Board of Directors, SOS Children's Village Lekenik and SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci, as well as the annual financial statements and the 2018 audit report.

Activities undertaken by all Association departments have continued to expand in the past year. Programme Development Department designed and implemented an extremely successful campaign aimed at raising the sensitivity of the general public to the needs of children living in poverty, called #vidime - za djetinjstvo jednakih prilika (#seeme – for childhood of equal opportunities). The campaign TV ad ran on many TV channels and it attracted a great deal of media attention.

We continue the project “Prepare for Leaving Care”, which has entered a new phase through the introduction of the personal mentor who will work with young people during the care leaving process, elevating the whole project to the next level.
Individual Giving Department continues to successfully recruit individual committed givers while maintaining the trust of the existing donors through regular communication with them, including reports on the work of the Association. This department moved their office to a new location, which offers excellent conditions for maintaining the high quality of their work.
We continue to further develop relationships with existing corporate donors while also striking new partnerships, all of which enable us to continue to provide quality care for children and youth. Our partners are satisfied with our collaboration and our general attitude, they recognize our brand and hard work, as well as the responsibility and trust we have.

In the past year we also launched the SOS representatives campaign, aimed at introducing the public to this job and inviting all the interested individuals to apply. We also had a month-long photography exhibition in the Grič Tunnel, which garnered positive attention from the media, and we held a Facebook auction of some of the photographs featured in the exhibition.

Our Human Resources Department saw its work volume increase significantly in the course of the year. The five-year organizational growth is at 33%. This was also the year we had to bring our internal regulations in line with the General Data Protection Regulation. To communicate as clearly as possible what our work entails and what all the people interested in working SOS Children's Village may expect, we carried out the HR branding with the motto “A Job with Heart” and new visual identity.

We spent a lovely evening in the pleasant company of our Board members, employees and Association collaborators and we look forward to new projects and accomplishments, as committed and motivated as ever.
