Summer in SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci

Children in our beautiful SOS Village in Ladimirevci, Eastern Croatia, are spending their summer holidays by enjoying a rich weekly programme of activities.

As they do every summer, children in the SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci are enjoying a fun-filled programme of activities that encourage them to socialize and learn through fun and games. Every day of the week is dedicated to a different type of activities. Children can choose freely which activities to pursue and most of them choose to participate – in everything.

Sports Monday is a great way to start an active and engaging week. Creative Tuesday offers a respite from athletic activities and gives children space to daydream, create, learn, inspire each other and travel the world in their minds, as evidenced by the Tibetan prayer flags full of good wishes, African motifs drawn with coffee beans, magical and unique Indian mandalas…
Wednesday is reserved for board games, while fun Thursday offers the music room, quizzes, movies and the ever popular Disco Party.

Friday is international day, when children take part in a fun interactive quiz, watch movies and experience the aromas, scents and sounds of the continent or country selected as the focus of that particular day.

Here are some examples: our little virtual travellers showcase their knowledge of Africa in a quiz as they sip coffee and play drums. They learn more about aromas and colours of India by watching Bollywood movies sitting in the lotus position, as they nibble on Indian cashew nuts and drink chai lattes. They absorb the sounds of Brazil by listening to beautiful Brazilian music and try out the tastes of Canada by eating pancakes with maple syrup.

The Village summer movie theatre is open almost every day. In addition to shade, it also provides a space for fun, socializing and learning. However, when it gets too hot to be inside, outdoor water games are the best way to cool down!
