We are reading fairy tales for 24 hours non-stop!

Tomorrow at noon SOS Children's Village Lekenik launches its traditional event – 11th Millennium Fairy Tale Read-A-Thon – during which we read fairy tales and children’s stories without stopping.

The traditional literary event Millennium Fairy Tale Read-A-Thon will take place in SOS Children's Village Lekenik for the eleventh year in a row. It will start at noon on Thursday, 14 November and run until noon on Friday, 15 November. During that time, we will read fairy tales and children’s stories aloud and without stopping. In addition to children and staff from the SOS Children's Village, our many friends, both children and grown-ups, will also take part. We invite all of them to read to our children and fill their hearts as they all gather together to celebrate picture books and other books for children that carry us away into happy worlds made for children.

As part of this year’s Read-A-Thon, we will also hold a book launch for several picture books written for preschool and school children, by author Rusmir Agačević and sculptor Dejan Pranjković. Rusmir Agačević, who is also the director of the SOS Children's Village Lekenik drama club, will present his picture books Good Manners for First Graders – a book on polite behaviour, Dragon Descendants from our Region – about domestic animals, Good Tools for Good Skills – about various professions and Our Friends the Elves – on protecting the environment.
As in previous years, children from various parts of the world will join us via video link, as will many public figures, such as noted cultural workers, athletes and entrepreneurs, friends and donors of the SOS Children's Village.

We look forward to reading and spending time together, as we let the wondrous lines and images from beloved fairy tales weave their spell around us!
