Our kids reveal in-depth knowledge of children’s rights

SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci Children’s Parliament holds a session to mark the World Children’s Day.

We celebrated the World Children’s Day by convening the Children’s Parliament, attended by all the children from SOS Children's Village Ladimirevci older than nine (the so-called “little majority”).

We refreshed our knowledge of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and all the children’s rights. We are proud of how well-versed our children are in these topics: in addition to right to play and choosing their own friends, they also pointed out that they are entitled to education and health care. Every SOS house in the Village received a child-friendly poster on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, so we already know that our kids will continue to show high awareness of children’s rights in the years to come.

After the formal ceremony, we got to work, discussing all the suggestions given by child representatives at the Children’s Council sessions and other current topics. This is our way of honouring our children’s right to express their opinions, to be heard and taken into account.
